Bootstrap Existing System
This page should help you gather the required information to have the Academic Operations Linux team bootstrap an existing Linux endpoint. This procedure is appropriate for machines like the Dell GB10, Nvidia Spark, or other linux systems that ship with customized operating systems that should be preserved.
Prepare system
- Create a local account with the username
chef-bs - Grant sudo/admin rights for that
chef-bsuser
Ticket via TDX

Create a TDX Ticket and assign it to the appropriate queue:

Provide password
Securely share the chef-bs password with the Linux Infrastructure team or technician. This can be done in the TAMU 1Password, Filex, or a secure password sender like https://us.pwpush.com/
Provide the user with the welcome handout
Provide the user with a copy of the new linux workstation handout, or leave it on the keyboard. The printable handout can be found on the public linux docs page:
