Accessing

Requesting An Account

The cluster is accessible to authorized users and can only be accessed from department computers, TAMU VPN, TAMU WiFi and eduroam via SSH or OpenOnDemand. Requesting an account is simple. Please follow the instructions below according to your classification/affiliation with the department.

  • Statistics Department Faculty, Staff, and Students Send an email to artsci-help@tamu.edu including the following information:

    • SUBJECT: Arseven Account Request
    • Full Name
    • NetID
    • Email (@tamu.edu)
  • Statistics Department Collaborators Any individual not directly and currently affiliated with the Department of Statistics must be sponsored by an affiliated faculty member and approved by the department's computational resources committee before access can be granted.

    Also, note that NetID authentication is required, and all users must have a valid NetID before access can be granted. Guest Net ID's may be requested from Identity Management Office, with approval from Dept. Head. Once a NetID has been obtained please send and email to artsci-help@tamu.edu including the following information:

    • SUBJECT: Arseven Account Request
    • Sponsoring Faculty Full Name
    • Applicant Full Name
    • Applicant NetID
    • Applicant Email

    External/Collaborator accounts expire annually on August 31. To submit a request for renewal send an email to artsci-help@tamu.edu including the following information:

    • SUBJECT: Arseven Account Renewal Request
    • Sponsoring Faculty Full Name
    • Applicant Full Name
    • Applicant NetID
    • Applicant Email

Account Lifecycle

Accounts on the cluster are typically tied to each user's association/affiliation with the Department of Statistics. Each user can expect that their account will remain active as long as the following apply:

  • The user is in good standing with the university
  • The user:
    • is a member (e.g. faculty, staff, student) of the Department of Statistics - OR -
    • has a department sponsor and has received approval from the department's computational resources committee for the current fiscal year.
